When dried this way, it becomes a green pepper.</p><p> Peppers can be picked green or after they have browned on the vine. The reddened fruits are then harvested and sun-dried. After this stage, they take on a reddish color. The fruits obtained from the black pepper plant are spherical and resemble plums. While the fruit has a fleshy exterior, it is hard inside. Black pepper, or white pepper after peeling, can be used as a spice.</p>
